Public and Private PartnersĮxploration of the arts, pertinent natural science research issues like ecosystem health and climate change, and unique educational programming are continually pursued at the site. These public and private program partners enrich each other's work and the center's mission through their distinctive activities. The Highlands Center core is its partners, an interactive community of artists, scientists and educators pursuing their work in a national park setting. ![]() Originally used for common space, housing, offices, and maintenance, buildings provide a broad range of opportunities for future users. Since then, CCNS has adaptively reused six buildings, has made numerous in infrastructure improvements, and spent over $1.2 million for building demolition. Its converging habitat, where land meets sea, provides a fitting backdrop for learning, reflection and research.įormerly the North Truro Air Force Station, in 1994, Cape Cod National Seashore (CCNS) acquired the 110-acre property. It’s definitely alive and well, the spirits of those who live here. It's all a part of an effort to make life in a time of crisis and stress as safe, and enjoyable, as possible. In addition to limiting large social gatherings in their assisted living community, Seashore Highlands also provides a grocery list of essentials for those living in the independent community. The days are beautiful, that’s one of the things we’ve been blessed with is some amazing springtime weather.”Įven with the restrictions for visitors, that doesn’t stop the residents from being outside and enjoying that springtime weather. With that being said, we have made the most of our days. "During this time of crisis there are so many changes, we can’t live life like we always have. “Families are communicating through window visits and FaceTime," executive director Rebecca Anderson said. At Seashore Highlands, an assisted living community in Gulfport, that means no visitors allowed inside the building – but that doesn't mean that loved ones can't see each other.
